k, first of all, for Leveling I need to write home and ask how keeping
the commandments has blessed your life. I don't know if it matters
which commandments, one in specific or all of them in general- but how has
keeping the commandments blessed your life?
So this week.... the past week we had interviews with our Mission
President. We had apartment inspections as well. They were impressed with
the improvement we had made. It could still use some work, but for the
most part we love it.
Very Important Question: Which is better- Spiderman or Harry
Potter????
Let's see... I believe the Single Adult Ward has my address in
Alexandria still. Please just give them the Mission Office so things can be
forwarded quicker- I don't know who you'd have to call, but they always
send it up there and then it takes forever to get to me. I guess it's
good that they don't send too much.... But the Mission Office is:
12025 Justice Ave.
Baton Rouge, LA 70816
This week, I don't know how much I remember, but I'll try to do my
best. We're working with this girl named Nova. She's awesome. She's 27
and had her names removed from the church records and now wants to be
baptized again, so we're working with the Bishop and teaching her the
lessons again. She lives in the Elders area and requested that we teach
her, so Mia takes us cause it's out in the middle of nowhere. It took
us 45 minutes to an hour to get there. We're also working with this
lady- Katherine Bell. The records from previous missionaries says that
she was lost for awhile and now found and wants to get back into church.
But last time we were visiting her... she's been excommunicated. So
we're working with the bishop for her too. She has a long way to go.
Sister Henderson worked with a few excommunicated members and told me
about an article she had found on lds.org.... it's all about
excommunication. Could you try and find it for me? I think she just typed in
excommunication and found it that way. I don't think Katherine Bell even
knows that she's excommunicated. If she does I don't think she knows
what it means. I think she had been a member for 2 years? or something
like that when it happened.
Let's see.... minor frustrations with certain people over here. We
were discussing our investigator with someone and they said she wasn't
ready to be baptized because she just went through a divorce. Sister
Jensen and I were a little defensive. She was in a bad marriage and it's
better for her and her kids now. The thing that upset us the most tho
is the person it came from is going through similar problems and it
seems like he should understand. So temporarily frustrating.
I'm trying to think of what else.... OH! So we never get media
referrals in this area and we got one this week, for a family! They ordered
the Together Forever video. We wanted them to come to church and so we
made a candy letter for them! You'd be so proud! It didn't take me
forever to come up with the letter. I don't remember it exactly right
now, but I'll find the copy at home (I didn't bring it with me to the
library) and write about it next week.
Hmmmm let's see, what else? We've been over to visit this
less-active, part-member family and the non-member came to church on Sunday! That
was exciting! And then BB.... she's unhappy. She's having marital
problems... The only reason she married the guy was because he was over
one day and the Elders told her she needed to get married- they didn't
give her the option of moving out or having him move out.... Anyways,
she's been participating more when we go over and teach her kids- so
that's good. The Elder that baptized her is coming out here this week
for Outdoor Zone Conference- that'll be fun. The Slidell Zone is against
Denham (Denim) Springs. So we are the Anti-Nehi- Levis and we have
ripped denims for our flag.... with some type of motto like the Denham
rippers.... It'll be fun! We're getting together with our Zone later
today for that. I'll let you know how Zone Conference goes next week....
Anyways, I think that's about it, or at least I don't remember much
else now....
Oh Mia loves going on exchanges and wants to go out with us more often.
I don't know what else.... but we're working with the members, and
that's good!
Well, love yall!!!
Sister Jamie Lang!
