The family website sounds like a great idea... hopefully you'll be able
to figure something out.... I know families that have newsletters, but
websites you can just update... So, sounds like things are busy like
usual.... That's good.... We did have a baptism last week... And
Christian is learning Russian? What? So that's cool. I wrote him in the
MTC.... hopefully he got it.... So, time on the computer is limited so
I'll respond and finish reading everything.... I haven't read the one
dad sent yet... E-mail didn't work last week... Let's see... we had a
baptism last week and we have one this week... One of our people
uncommitted himself.... that was really sad.
My companion doesn't want to go home... but I think she'll adjust back
quickly... her missionary is serving in Florida and gets home shortly
after her. She's way fun and she says we're a lot alike- so it's lots
of fun. I am enjoying everything.... It has been raining, and riding
bikes in the rain=not fun.... oh well.... I love the skirts I have, I
wear them all the time! So, there's a few things that I want to make
sure I write about, so I'll go to those real quick. Well, we've been
out with a few ward members this week.... A Sister Smith said that she
has never been out with people that she felt the spirit so strongly with
and can't wait to come again.... SHe has a little 3 year old girl and
can only come out for a little while... but it was good. She was able
to share her testimony and it was great! Then we went out with a Sister
Walker, we took her to see Paul, who is getting baptized this week- we
hope... We believe he's ready.... She fell in love with him and says
he's awesome! She went home and told her husband about him and she's
coming out with us twice this week to go and visit him again. She even
was telling someone in the ladies bathroom at church.... bearing
testimony of how great Paul is.... Paul had turned his phone off Saturday
night and called us as soon as he had turned it on. before he realized we
had left him a message on his phone and his door.... He had been at a
friend's house. She's Pentecostal and he says he's trying to convert
her. She said she wouldn't come to church, but promised to come to his
baptism. We sign our notes "The angels" and we draw a picture.... He
said I drew Sister Henderson's hair too long.... BUt it's great! Then
we had a surprise yesterday. There's this lady, Edna, who told us she
had prayed and God told her to stay in her church.... WE taught her
and actually got her to come to church. So she came, and we actually
spoke, missionary Sunday- and I spoke about the Power of the Pass-along
card.... But her daughter has constantly refused to sit in our lessons
and called us at church saying that her mom had left without her, and if
we could come and get her.... So exchanges.... SIster Henderson left
with a member- Malinda, who's awesome! And I stayed there... that was
weird! Anyways, so they came!!!! And Luis and Carlos' sister wants to be
baptized as long as she can wear pants, and we haven't taught her, so
we'll go over and get her baptized as well! So things are going well....
My ankle is all better and I haven't fallen again yet.... I think I
just had to get used to riding a bike with a skirt....
So, this is a quote from a General Authority.....
"President Spencer W. Kimball stated-- 'Make no small plans: They have
no magic in them to stir man's sould.' This is the vision I have for
the South. I believe that one day the South will baptize more people
into the church than all other English Speaking Missions in the world
together. There are great hosts of marvelous Baptists, members of the
Church of christ, Methodists, and Catholics who are honorable people, and
have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and love him. As they see the
church veering off to the right or to the left of those basic teachings,
they will begin to search for the truth. And as pivotal teachers come
into the church and have influence, we will see the time when we will
baptize hundreds and thousands, tens of thousands. In your day you will
see a million members of the church in the South. THere will be
temples, plural, in the South States. WHat a great call you have to serve
with these marvelous people."----Vaughn J. Featherstone, 30 April 1984.
I realized this morning that Zion- the New Jerusalem will be built in
Missouri- the South. I am a part of that preparation.... HOw exciting!
I have a lot of work to do and a lot of people to find. We haven't
even been to the outskirts of our area.... If you look at a map, our Zone
is called the Empire.... It's HUGE! My area alone includes most of
Alexandria... Colfax, Lena, Jena, Polluck, Dry Prongs, Tioga and
Ball.... it's a lot of area.... Lots of room for growth! Anyways, it's fun!
Oh, we went and visited the Rayes... an older couple... they're
deciding between the Pentecostals and us... AHHHHHH! We want Paul to come
with us and help them out. Ok, I have to go and make sure I can get the
blessing printed out.... If I think of something else I write it in a
real letter....
Love ya!
Sister Jamie Lang!
