So things have been getting more hot and humid... but that's ok, I'm
starting to adjust. Tiredness is coming too though... but not too bad.
But things can be draining at times.... There have been a lot of ups
and downs this week, not with my companion but with the work.
Also we don't really like our Zone Leaders right now.... but that's a
whole other story.... Well, let's see....
So, we've had a few people back out of baptismal dates. One girl said
she threw her Book of Mormon away. Just stuff.....
But some highlights of this week.... Teaching Quarnette and Jasmyn,
and meeting Cheryl! They are all awesome! We were trying to find
medias- people who had ordered things through the phone and deliver them,
there's a lot that hasn't been delivered in the past year, so we're
catching up on that.... Well, Sister Benham wanted to give some kids some
stickers, so this girl happened to see us and asked if we were the people
with Book of Mormons and said she had been meaning to order one but
never called the number on tv. So we gave her one and started teaching
everyone in her apt.... That was fun! Well, Jasmyn walked in and pretty
much asked if she could come to church. We set up a time to come see
her. She's 20 and awesome! We were having her pray to know that the
church was true, but instead of asking if it was she asked that when she
was baptized that she would continue to grow closer to her Savior.
She's prayed that she would have the opportunity to share her testimony
with friends and family and be an example to others as "these girls are
to me", implied possibly a mission.... prayed that she would live
worthy of the Celestial Kingdom.... she's just awesome! And Quarnette is
her cousin....
Then Cheryl.... We got her as a media for a Book of Mormon so we went
by and she was busy, so we scheduled a time to come back and talk with
her, but left her with the Book of Mormon she had ordered. When we
came back she said that she had been reading, that recently she had been
considering suicide- so rock bottom, but then we came.... Anyways, she
says everything in her life, just isn't right and she doesn't know how
to change it. She says she is looking for a church, so we invited her
to come- she's looking forward to it. She says she prays all the time
and just doesn't feel like she is getting answers..... So we shared
with her ways to recognize the spirit. She said she found out about the
Book of Mormon cause her cousin has one, and she has noticed the
changes since her cousin has been reading it.... We want to find her cousin
too, cause she's in her area, but I don't think she's ever been
taught.... so maybe someone in the church gave her one, or she had one mailed
to her..... Either way... she's 20 too.... Married, high school drop
out... wants to get her GED, so we might help her with that too....
She says she's been looking for a job but no one will hire her because
she doesn't have her GED. So, hopefully Jasmyn, Quarnette and Cheryl can
all be friends!!!! That's exciting!
Let's see what else.... rumors in the mission.... So, my district
leader thinks I'll be a senior companion next transfer.... There's two
new sisters coming in, and he also thinks that Either Sister Benham and
Sister Romero will be training, or Sister Benham and I will be training
the new ones.... So whatever happens there will most likely be a
change next transfer.... Kinda scary! But exciting too! I love my
companion! We both love to dance and it's fun! At times she reminds me of
Katie- and her name is Katie too!!! Anyways... fun stuff! I think
that's about all for this week.... hopefully I'll have updates on Jasmyn,
Quarnette and Cheryl next week.
We haven't seen or heard much from Joyce this week, but she was looking
better last time we saw her.
Then Jose.... he won't be getting baptized soon.... not too soon
anyways.... He's not ready to get married.... but he liked our idea, and
may use it "next year".... But I think he'll continue to church, so I
guess at least that much is good.... Well, I love y'all!
Love
Sister Jamie Lang!
