July 10, 2006

Sister Goertzen and I have lots of fun! Well, the depression thing....
she had been at one point on her mission but she's more than great now.
We don't still need a helmet- thank goodness. We drive 15 miles on
P-days when we have time to go to Walmart. Oh, my groceries were bought
on my home card.... I didn't have enough on my mission card, cause the
store in town here is really expensive so we only got a few things last
week, and this week we had to buy stuff to be prepared for evacuation.
We need a mini food storage in our car..... so yeah.... Sister
Henderson I believe is moving back to LA. She almost came right back. Her
mom picked her up here and she was here for 2 days- not very long and
she took her mom on some exchanges. Then she went home. She didn't have
any interests in the mission field. Well, she had been writing an
Elder in Florida- she was even in their family Christmas letter.... but
she came back and he supposedly brought something up and so she went to
the temple a lot.... She's prayed about it though. Sister Goertzen was
actually her companion when they were serving in that ward, and she was
still waiting for Jacob.... who came home a few weeks
ago....Jeanne????? There was a Lindsey that I gave Cassie's address to, but I don't
have her address and Elise is her mom, I gave her our address as well, but
I don't have theirs. They're not sure if they're staying there much
longer.... The BOM cd.... it might be nice to lend out copies... unless
we get a key to the library, but we still have to drive to the church
to check out the tapes.... The food for the most part is good.....
Guess what? I went to a BBQ last week- it ate up our miles, but I ate a
hamburger.... and it was good.... part of that was cause I couldn't
taste the meat, but I think that's the best so far.... Maybe I'll
actually buy a hamburger from a fast food place sometime.... The heat is
interesting- definitely taking some getting used to.
Well it sounds like Cassie is staying busy- that's good. Let me know
how the WHS soccer goes.....
Adrian from agoura? She's cool- really fun girl. Maybe Carly can plan
the activities for Danny..... That's cool! Another surprise bday for
Carly! Is she getting my car? When can she get her license? What
does her ring look like?
Fran is going to New Zealand and Australia? I envy her! Have her
keep notes.... I did some research on it once.... Is she going to
Queensland at all? I think the choir was mainly going to Sydney.... so I
guess that's ok.... I'd rather go to Queensland and New Zealand with just
a brief stop in Sydney..... Actually there's a cruise that takes off
from Sydney, goes down to Tasmania? where the Tazmanian Devil is and
then goes up to Auckland, New Zealand.
So Randy's back..... I was going to write him once... never did.
oops. I've written Terrell though! I saw Jack right before I left.... he
was still adjusting.... he shook my hand.... haha.... Yeah I guess
most people are going to be coming home soon! So Birmingham, Alabama?
The South is taking over! It's cause of the Vision of the South- I
think I sent that once.... If you enlarge the mission map I can tell you
cities that are covered in my areas.... you can underline them or
something.... There's a dusted off area though.... I think it's on the map,
and also there's some preacher whose house has been dusted.... And
Countdown? For when I get home? I don't get home til I think Oct 4th....
approx- that's when my ministerial certificate expires.... and also
approximately when the transfer would end. I'll be out for 18 months and
3 weeks.... cause of transfers! No one is allowed to extend anymore.
I'd still like my sarong..... That would be nice..... The
contacts.... interesting..... It's hard. We're in a ward though, but it's pretty
big. Our district leaders serve in our ward too. There isn't too much
devastation around here, but people who have lost things.... but they
live in nice homes here, they just had to start over. I saw more
devastation in Alexandria.....
I'm not a Stripling Warrior tho.... I'm going to be one of their
mom's!

Love ya! on to the next e-mail!
Sister Jamie Lang
