You had once asked for projects.... I don't know exactly what you'd
want to do... I'll probably need help every now and then... when I see a
need or something like that.... but for the most part, just letters
are good.... I think we're going to try to make it to the post office
today to send some letters and my blanket home- things I don't want to
lose in a hurricane.....
As for stuff you can do.... Every member a missionary! I have learned
that as missionaries I am here to teach those here and to help the ward
grow.... But the ward has to fellowship and help find. I guess if you
want a project... try to have a non-member over everytime the
missionaries come over to eat.... even if they don't end up teaching them
you're doing your part by inviting..... There's a quote I like at the end
of "The Amber Spyglass" by Phillip Pullman.... it's somewhere at
home.... it says something along the lines of 'build up the kingdom where
you are. That's where we're needed'
If I need help because of the devastation here I'll let you know....
but the best thing you can do to help is by doing missionary work at
home- sharing in what I'm doing and writing about it. (And also other
things that are happening at home). Just invite others over.... it can be
anything, even small things.... I never took advantage of it when I
was at home- so I'll have to better when I do get home. There's a talk
by Elder Bednar I think in the last General Conference Session, or a
recent one, in the priesthood session, about Becoming a Missionary- it's
really good, you should read it. I'm already improving.... kinda
scary- well not really. I knew I would like my mission, I knew it would be
beneficial, something I would always look back on, but I don't think I
ever thought I could learn some of the things I'm learning.
Love you all!!
Sister Jamie Lang!
