August 28, 2006 - #3

Ok... so no Quinn isn't the one out of Juvenile hall... Quinn is Mia's
husband... and also her son.... quinn jr.... who we call Q. She
doesn't have legal rights to him tho....

Satan does try hard. But you can see it most of the time.... Some
people are just really hardened. This pastor I think was sincere.... but
maybe that was also because we woke him up from a nap and he wasn't
awake enough....

The ward here is supposed to orded the magazines for the recent
converts.... If not I'll let you know.... When I leave here maybe I'll give
you their phone number and you can keep in touch with them.... Mia
truly is awesome, and Quinn will come around... he was a big part of the
reason Mia joined... but it's been awhile since he's been to church....

Love you!

And stubborness is a trait of Ephraim... I read that in one of the book
I had on it.... it's probably still at home..... I think Carly will be
fine.

Jamie,

I'm glad you've been able to be there for Mia and her family. When
you said that it seems things go bad at the baptisms that reminded me
that that is what happened at my baptism. I don't really know what
went wrong, because as a non-member you don't understand what's
happening, but it had to do with Val Cram who was going to baptize us and not
getting cleared. I don't know if he didn't have his temple recommend
with him or he had to be cleared somehow, but it did finally work out.
And you're right, it is Satan. It is real. I think that with Mia and
her family. I wish you could get her husband to see it, but I think
men want to think they can handle things and that they've got things
under control. But it is a real battle! I hope Mia can be strong. And
Quinn. Is he the one who got out of juvenile hall? Change takes
time. I hope they can be supported for the change to take hold. Kind of
like being rooted. When you plant something for the first
time it is pretty easy for the wind to knock it down. But as the
roots grow deeper, it becomes stronger. It's a good feeling to have
strong roots, isn't it. But plants can't have strong roots and then be
forgotten. It needs continue nourishment to remain strong.

Your ghetto challenge? I hope it's sincere and not a trap for a
bashing. It sounds like there's a lot of anti around there, but Jamie
I'm like your bishop...I think you are the best missionary in LA and
Satan knows that. So remember...it is a battle...Satan is real...Satan
wants you and knows how he can get to you...you have strong roots...and
you need to be nourished. I love you and your Heavenly Father even
loves you more!

Grandpa's words of wisdom for the week..."Promise little....Do MUCH!"
I guess his mom had a sign outside his room that said that and I know
Dad had heard that many times from Grandpa. So good advice. Grandma
is doing good altho, Grandpa does drain her sometimes, but she is
amazing. She did say that she wouldn't mind getting the friend for Lexi
and the Ensign and New Era for Mia and Quinn...would you like us to do
that?

I think I need to go and keep working and getting th ings done. I
was thinking how wonderful it is to be a missionary. You get up and
you concentrate on one thing... My life is not quite so fun, but it is
rewarding and I do try to do my best. I'm actually looking forward to
more routine this year...and hopefully a little less conflict (altho
Carly is borderline and could go one way or the other...stubborness
seems to run in the family). Gosh, we love you and thank you for your
example.

Love, Love, Love,

Mom
