August 28, 2006 - #2

Where'd it get cut off from? It all got sent with your reply back to
me.....

A lot happened.... Quinn's brothers are druggies and a lot of his
family lives all on the same property and doesn't like Mia....

One of them was completely out of it and threatened to kill Mia, 2 of
her friends that were with her and Lexi, her daughter who was
inside..... When he went back for a metal pipe (I believe) Mia grabbed the gun
and the phone to protect them.... He kept approaching them and so she
cocked the gun.... He still kept moving forward, so she told him she was
calling the police. When she actually called was when he started
backing off..... So they were on their way and she didn't know how to uncock
the gun- so she shot it off into the woods- there's nothing there.....

Well, no one else had been around at the time, people were telling her
husband a whole bunch of different things and he didn't know anything.
He was mad at her.... he got in a fight with his dad, supposedly beat
him up after his dad hit him.... the police started to surround him and
he drove off..... He didn't know where, but there was a time when he
called and couldn't breathe anymore.... He had an anxiety attack and a
heart attack and couldn't tell her where he was. The police didn't know
where to look at first. That's when we prayed and then he answered
long enough to mention Target and a gas station.... they pieced it
together and found him and took him to the hospital..... Anyways.... it was
hectic and we finally called some members over to help her out. And
take care of Lexi while she went to the hospital..... That's what
happened.... Quinn is still recovering..... But everyone is pretty much
fine.... I guess.... Her testimony has been strengthened tho....

Jamie,

What happened with Quinn and the in-laws that he thinks was a
coincidence? The email gets cut off at the end for some reason and I can't
piece it together. Did someone get hurt?

Ok, so this week.... lots of interesting things.

First off, Mia- she's been going through a really hard time.
Everything has become really hectic. Her in-laws and everyone has gone against
her and making things really hard for her. Her husband, as a result of
everything ended up in the hospital one night. But we were there with
her when everything was confusing and read the Book of Mormon with
her. She knows that her prayers were answered and there were angels there
that night with her and her husband. Her testimony has grown but her
husband's.... He thinks he did it. That it was just coincidence....
It's really hard on her. He doesn't want to have anything to do with the
church anymore really. But she came to church with Lexi- Lexi LOVES
primary! She's also giving us a ride to our interviews this week in
Slidell. She's been reading her Book of Mormon. She was in New Orleans
with Quinn one day and was upset cause she had left her BoM at home. And
she also wanted a blessing. We told her if she saw any
missionaries they could give her one. She was like, "oh if I see one
I'm flagging them down and saying, "I just got baptized. I need a
blessing and I REALLY need a BoM"" She's really cool! She came to church
and heard just what she needed to. She's doing ok. We plan on going
over and seeing her. Quinn will let us come by cause he looks at us as if
we're her friends. Cause we've helped her with so many things, and we
are in a sense friends.... We helped her make concrete the other day-
that was interesting. We were making a sidewalk to her front door.

Let's see.... they want to move away from where they're at- it's not a
good situation. But they don't have any legal rights over their son-
Quinn's grandma holds the rights to him.... She adopted him close to
when he was born and it sounds like it wasn't done right, but I'm not
allowed to get involved.... but it's a really messed up situation. But
she's pulling through. She has faith that everything will work out in
the end.

Let's see.... I'm trying to think..... what else.... oh we met with
the Bishop this week. He said he thinks he's blessed with the best
missionaries in LA. That's pretty cool. There was a lot of confusion
getting Mia baptized and we weren't sure if there was contention there- but
he just doesn't like our Zone Leader- their personalities clash. Good
times.

Oh funny things.... so we have to be prepared to evacuate.... So we
have to have water in our trunk. Well there was an unopened bottle that
one day looked really empty. I was like, "It's dehydrated?!" I failed
to ask if it had evaporated or had spilt, dehydrated was what came to
mind..... anyways.

Then we were out contacting in a ghetto last night.... We rolled down
the window and handed a guy on a bike a pass along card. These guys
came running up yelling what sounded like, "We?" I was like What? And
the guy on the bike was like, no they're out talking about Jesus Christ
and one of his friends was like "yeah, they're Mormon".... then he was
like oh and turned back.... yeah, we figured it out... he wanted
weed.... yeah, no we don't sell that. We started laughing.

Then we were out teaching on Saturday and we ran into this family and
this one lady was like, Jesus baptized John- I was like, really? Her
own mom disagreed with her.

And then we taught a ghetto lesson (something with 2 or more
principles a commitment and a prayer) at the door to a preacher- that was my
door. We got a call back- that was interesting. Well, I think that's
about it. Crazy stuff. Good times.

The most memorable was probably with Mia when everything went crazy.
She had called us cause she knew we'd be able to help. I said a prayer
with Lexi and the spirit was there SO STRONG! It was AWESOME! So I
think that was my week!

Love yall!!!!
